David French Boyd (1834-1899) was an officer in the Confederate Army who for a time was a prisoner of war on a Union boat moored in Alexandria, La. Born near Princeton, N.J., the philanthropist Paul Tulane was the son of a French immigrant, Paul Tulane, and Maria Tulane.
